About

Hi there! My name is Matt Messersmith. I try to give back through StackOverflow and I occasionally post on Twitter.

I graduated from Lehigh University in 2014 with a degree in Mathematics. I was also a President’s Scholar during my time at Lehigh. I used my free fifth year to finish off a graduate degree that I had started my Junior/Senior year, and I graduated again in 2015 with a Master’s degree in Computer Science.

I am used to be a Python/C++ developer for Lockheed Martin. I worked on a SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) software system during my tenure at Lockheed. SAR is a technique to form an image from a radar signal.

I now used to work for Ursa Space Systems, an awesome startup, as a Python developer where we sell energy analytics. Our primary product is using SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) to measure floating lid oil tanks. Somehow this SAR shenanigans ended up paying off, who knew a niche could be lucrative…

I am now employed by Stratagem, which is a small defense contractor that’s filled to the brim with really talented, dedicated, brilliant engineers. My role is a Software Architect, which entails high level design and leading teams from a technical standpoint. Yes, I still code (a lot!), and that’s an important facet of being a successful leader and architect.

The views expressed on this blog are my own, and not necessarily that of my employer or any other entity with which I have been, am now, or will be affiliated. This should be self-evident to anyone with half a brain, but then again, it is lawyers who typically need to read these things in order to feel better.

I live in PA with my wonderful wife, Steph.
